Karts and Clays Challenge 2012
For the second year in a row, the Club booked the Full Throttle Karts venue in Hamilton for what could become an annual event in the future. Thirty-one drivers, an increase on last year's numbers, had entered in the Full Throttle Karts and there was some very strong competition on the track in the different grids. There was also a fair amount of strategy and some dodgy racing as well on occasion but it was a lot of fun and worth recommending to everyone who hasn’t tried this type of competition. There were also a slot-car track and the race-car simulators to try the skills of those interested in blasting around the Mount Panorama circuit at the Full Throttle Karts venue. As part of the entry fee the Club provided meat patties, bacon and sausages along with an array of salad vegetables for competitors to make themselves burgers for lunch. After lunch at the karts it was back to the Sutherland ranch for clay-bird shooting and a bit of paddock bashing in Stu Rowling’s purpose-built and highly modified Holden. There were only seven people entered in the clay-bird shooting, including first-time shooter Donna Sinclair who shot with a 50% success rate over the day. After the shooting was over there was a BBQ dinner and the usual socialising - great day!!!
